Our story is simple. We provide results. As a family-owned company, we are proof that quality is the natural byproduct of perseverance and loyal service. As brothers, we grew up working for our father’s marine construction company. Since the age of 12, we have worked together continuing the family legacy of building. We are passionate about our trade and our community. We are a hard-working family focused company with a personal mission to help others create spaces to build memories.
Tipton Bray is the founder and owner of Environmental Land Managers LLC, established in 2015. In 2021, his company merged with Deepwater. An Army Infantry Veteran and married father of three, he served in Iraq. Since completing his service, he has spent over 15 years in the landscape and/or construction industry. A natural leader, Tipton’s strengths include his project management skills and ability to complete a mission. Passionate about all aspects of outdoor living, dining, and gardening he has designed outdoor spaces from historic downtown Saint Augustine to beach front cottages, and bayfront homes. His love and sense of adventure for the great outdoors allows him to create spaces to experience the beauty of the natural world in comfort and style. With a true value on craftsmanship, Tipton enjoys the integrity in the products and spaces he creates alongside his brother, Hulsey.
Hulsey Bray first moved to St. Augustine in 1996, to attend Flagler College. Before enrolling in Massachusetts Maritime Academy, he met his wife while she was vacationing here in St. Augustine. They were married that year. Traveling the world with the Merchant Marines, Hulsey spent his first career working on oil rigs throughout the Gulf of Mexico, assisting Navy Seals in Virginia, and working with the Bob Ballard, who discovered the Titanic shipwreck. In 2008 his family made St. Augustine Beach their home. In 2015, Hulsey took his passion for woodworking as an opportunity to create his own business allowing him to spend more time with his family. 2018 Deepwater Woodworking was licensed. Since returning permanently shoreside, Hulsey has immersed himself in the St. John’s community including serving as a member of the City of St. Augustine Beach Planning and Zoning board. He prides himself on being a real woodworker, who uses old world techniques and new age technology. With experience ranging from hand hewn beans for fireplace mantles to custom built homes with handcrafted furniture, Deepwater Construction is even well versed in boat building. From the forest to your family home or the forefoot of your yacht, Deepwater has the craftsmanship, personal and vision to make your dream a reality.
